Dr.A.K.Ramakrishnan has been a member of the Faculty of the School of International Relations and Politics from 1984 onwards. He was the Director of the School of International Relations and Politics during 2001-03.
Dr.Ramakrishnan received his B.Sc degree from University of Calicut and M.A. degree in Middle Eastern Studies from University of Mysore. He obtained M.Phil degree from the Centre for West Asian and African Studies, School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and Ph.D degree from School of International Relations, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala. His Ph.D thesis was on the topic “ American Perceptions of Iran: A Study in Orientalism”. His specializations include International Relations theories; West Asian area studies, Gender and Postcolonial studies. He has published widely in English and Malayalam. His articles and reviews have been published in journals such as International Studies, Scandinavian Journal of Development Alternatives, Millennium: Journal of International Studies, Contemporary South Asia, and Palestine Times.
He has previously been a Distinguished International Scholar and Visiting Professor at Bucknell University, Pennsylvania, USA, and a Research Fellow at Cairo University, Cairo, Egypt. He has presented papers at several international conferences at the London School of Economics and Political Science; Hebrew University, Jerusalem; University of Melbourne; EHESS, Paris; Middle East Technical University, Ankara; University of Delaware, University of Massachussets at Amherst, etc.
