SCHOOL
OF INDIAN LEGAL THOUGHT
The School was established by the University
as one of its regular teaching departments in
1989. The School offers an integrated programme
of legal education. The courses offered are:
1.BA
LL B (HONS)
2.LL M in Two Branches
i) Human
Rights
ii)
Intellectual Property Rights
3. Ph.D
The
School even while giving focus on modern subjects
like Intellectual Property Rights and Human
Rights, it also gives emphasis in its teaching
programme on the contribution of Indian Legal
Thought to the field of law and Jurisprudence.
School
has got an excellent faculty consisting of Seven
full time and 16 Guest Teachers.
The
School is located in an ideal landscape at the
top of Suryakalady Hills at Nattasserry, five
kilometers away from Kottayam town with all
modern infrastructural facilities which include
beautiful campus, spacious class rooms, a very
spacious and well equipped and rich Library,
a separate ideal Moot Court Hall, Auditorium
and Seminar Hall.
All
the courses follow a semester system with continuing
internal assessment. Projects, Assignments and
Seminar presentations and participation in Moot
Court and Legal Service Programmes are compulsory
components of the curriculum.
The
School brings out a research law Journal entitled
“Journal of Indian Legal Thought”
as an annual number.
The
School produced five Ph.Ds in the last four
years.
The
National Judicial Academy, Bhopal has identified
the School to execute a “Project on Access
to Justice” in the State of Kerala.
The
School proposes to start a few one year P.G.
Diploma courses in important branches of law
and also two more Branches (International Trade
Law and Constitutional & Administrative
Law) in LL M in the next academic year.
