MPhil/PhD Programmes
The M.Phil. programme in Politics and International Relations is spread over one year (Two Semesters). Candidates have to secure 36 credits for the successful completion of the programme (8 credits for core courses, 4 credits for elective courses, 20 credits for dissertation/projects and 4 credits for viva-voce examination)

Eligibility


Postgraduate degree in International Relations/Politics/Economics/ History/ Law with 55 per cent marks. For the M. Phil course there are a total of 10 seats of which 2 seats are reserved for foreign students.

Admissions to the M. Phil programme are made on the basis of an entrance test and an interview. The marks for preparing the final rank list are in the proportion of 50:40:10 (qualifying examination: entrance test: interview). There is weightage of marks for proficiency in sports/ games/ NCC/ NSS etc. Communal reservation is followed on the basis of university/ government rules. There will be a relaxation of 5 per cent marks in the qualifying examination for SC/ST candidates in respect of the M.Phil course.

Ph.D Programme: Eligibility
 
Postgraduate degree in any of the social sciences with 55 per cent marks provided one has passed the research aptitude test conducted by the university.

A candidate must have applied for research within five years from the date of publication of the result of the aptitude test. SC/ST candidates need only 45 per cent marks. However, they have to qualify the aptitude test in order to apply for research.

The following categories of persons are exempted from the entrance test:

1)Approved college teachers of the state with five years of teaching experience at the college level and teachers of the university departments who have completed probation.

2)Candidates who have become eligible for Junior Research Fellowship/ Lectureship in the NET/GATE conducted by such bodies as UGC and state level eligibility test conducted by the Government of Kerala approved by the UGC.

3)M.Phil degree holders are also exempted.

4)Teachers of affiliated colleges and university departments and other regular employees as provided in the university rules are eligible for part-time registration.
